Whether it's sending doctors and medical supplies, or helping to build schools and provide clean drinking water, Durham residents are dedicating their time, money and expertise to help the people of Africa, like never before.
In recent months, Metroland Durham Region Media Group reporters have followed the stories of residents across the region who are raising funds and gathering supplies to send overseas, as well as those who have actually travelled to Africa to lend a hand.
On a continent with more than 50 countries, all of which are struggling with their own challenges like AIDS, poverty and civil unrest, this support is desperately needed.
